The Armidale and District Historical Society is a voluntary organisation, dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of the Armidale district. In addition, the Society also encourages the local community to understand and appreciate the history of the region.

The Society is interested in advancing all forms of historical research, through its monthly newsletter and annual meetings and guest speakers. The topics of papers presented at meetings cover a wide range of subjects related to the history of the entire New England region. Wherever possible these are published in the next Journal.  From time to time the Society publishes books which are available for sale.

Engagement in the re-enactment of some of the significant events in Armidale’s history by the Society, have served to heighten the awareness of our history to the wider community.

The Society always welcomes guests, interested persons and prospective members to all our activities. For information on meetings and membership, please follow the links above.
